Recently the demands for quality teaching in higher education are increasing. Korean universities are making every effort to keep in step with these demands. In order to specify the strategies for quality teaching in higher education, this research attempted to analyze the policies and strategies of world best university cases known for high quality teaching. To meet this purpose, we chose five top research universities, such as University of Manchester(UM) in the UK, University of British Columbia(UBC) in Canada, Monash University(MU) in Australia, National University of Singapore in Singapore, Hong Kong University in Hong Kong. Document analyses and staff interviews in these universities were conducted. The key strategies of UM in the UK were using e-learning for teaching and learning and high incentives for best lecturers. UBC's key strategy was using instructional design experts, while MU & HKU were using systematic quality management system. As results of the research, key strategies for quality teaching were specified: elaborating e-learning strategies for quality teaching, teaching-focused professorship policy, using instructional design experts, opening non-degree courses to the public, organizational quality management, and making course evaluations transparent to the public, etc. Based on the research results, practical implications are suggested for policy making.
