This study investigated the relationship between sociophobia and family system characteristics.
The researchers identified and examined factors affecting the daughter’s sociophobia and family therapy
intervention strategies as well as the process and effectiveness of the intervention. Methods: The data,
which consisted of recordings and transcripts from 10 family therapy sessions, were analyzed by constant
comparative analysis, matrix, and network display. Results: The study found dysfunctional communication
patterns and conflicts with the family of origin as factors influencing the daughter's sociophobia. The
study identified several family therapy intervention strategies for sociophobia and explicated the changes in
the family members’ relationships based on those interventions. Conclusions: Family therapy interventions
enhanced the family members’ functional communication skills and helped reduce the daughter’s
sociophobic symptoms.
