The purpose of this paper was to suggest future research on media literacy of students with
learning disabilities in the world of digital media technology which is constantly evolving and now
playing an important role in the life of these students. First, critical concepts of media literacy,
media literacy education, and students competencies required in the digital media environment were
reviewed. Then, Based on the notions of mutimodal literacy, multiliteracy, and multiple literacy,
directions for future research on students with learning disabilities were proposed in terms of access,
understanding, and creating media content.
